Inspire Me Profile: Meet the Unashamed Queen – Takeia Cage

First  off, I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the beautiful Takeia from My Vicarious Life Blog and Unashamed Queens for being the first person featured and interviewed for this project I am doing.

The goal of this project is to highlight and celebrate all of the incredible, talented and inspiring individuals that I have met in my life and share with you! I want these to be real, organic, motivational and most importantly relatable. These are stories of “regular” people who go through the same daily struggles as we all do but have made the decision to go out and chase their dream.

I met Takeia this year on social media and we have been connected to eachother ever since. What I was most drawn and impressed with was her positive attitude, beautiful mind and her entrepreneurial spirit.

1)  Tell us about you and your brand. What do you do?

Hello beautiful souls,

My name is Takeia Cage, and I reside in Minnesota.

I’m an advocate for women, mompreneur, and I also am a motivational blogger.

I started a women’s empowerment group back in January 2016 named Unashamed Queens where I help women re-discover their light while walking in their truth, Unashamed.

2) What is your blog and what is your inspiration for it?

My blog is MyVicariousLifeBlog.Com

My inspiration came from when I was going through my own self-love and healing journey that I realized I can also share my truth with others, while re-discovering myself as well. I wanted to be open, transparent and honest not only with myself, but with my readers as well. I think it’s beautiful to watch my readers grow, and for them also to see me grow as well. MyVicariousLifeBlog was also inspired to help women/men understand that it’s okay to be a work in process, while re-discovering who you are, and just being unashamed while doing so.

3) What advice do you have for new entrepreneurs and/or bloggers who are just starting out and may not know what to do or where to turn?

I would definitely tell entrepreneurs, and bloggers to just go for it, and don’t worry about planning because nothing is ever going to be perfect. You’re going to make mistakes along the way, so don’t worry about being “perfect” because there is no such thing as perfect.

I would also say do your RESEARCH! Never stop learning and educating yourself, and finding ways to grow your brand. Social media is a very big platform. So many amazing things happen when you connect and network with other creatives.

Learn how to clap and celebrate yourself, and also believe in YOU! There’s going to be people out there that are not going to understand you or the things you’re doing, and that has nothing to do with you! Keep spreading love and light, and watch how things begin to manifest themselves.

4) Who or what has been your greatest influence and inspiration in business and why?

I loveeee Myleik Teele.

She’s like my mother in my head.

I just love her girl boss spirit and how genuine she is to encouraging other people to succeed, by doing what they love and enjoy.

5) What does success mean to you?

Success to me means being happy and fulfilled with doing the things I love.

6) What is the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on?

Be your authentic self, always stay true to yourself, and don’t be afraid of saying NO to shit you don’t believe in.

7) Sometimes mistakes serve as the greatest lessons. What were some of your most important mistakes you’ve learned from (if any)?

Selling myself short and not realizing my worth when I know that I’m destined for greatness. I had to stop doubting myself before I allowed self-sabotage to ruin me and my brand. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in negative thinking that you end up missing out on your blessings, because of your fear of failure.

8) Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?

I would definitely take some business classes, and learn the ins and out of business.

I took this getting ready and guided business plan course with the Small Business Administration (SBA). I’ve learned a lot about business and how important it is to know your rights.

9) Do you have any new projects coming up (or have you just completed a big project – reached a milestone, etc.)? If so, please share?

I just launched my #UnashamedGirlTalk podcast 7/12/17, and you can find that here: #UnashamedGirlTalk Podacast

I’m also rebranding Unashamed Queens, there will be a new look and arrivals fall 2017, so be on the lookout for that.

10) What’s next for Unashamed Queens and where do you see yourself in the next year? 5 years?

What’s next for Unashamed Queens is going from being local, to worldwide (speaking it into existence). In 5 years I plan on being a full-time entrepreneur, traveling and inspiring people all over the world. I have so many plans, and I’m allowing God to lead me.

Last but not least, where can we find you?
